The Taurus UCX-1x1-C40 is a groundbreaking docking station which transforms hybrid collaboration, providing a powerful solution for high-quality video, audio and control signals to flow effortlessly between devices. One of its most appealing features is its cross-platform compatibility, supporting both macOS and Windows devices. This, plus its BYOM (Bring Your Own Meeting) capability allows users to enjoy streamlined, professional meeting setups no matter what their device. Plus, with charging up to 100W, there’s no need to worry about running low during important meetings.
Powered by LARA (Lightware Advanced Room Automation), this built-in automation system simplifies room programming to empower users of all skill levels to setup meetings efficiently and quickly, with a wake-up time of around five seconds. It also allows IT departments to remotely monitor and manage docking stations, ensuring continuous operations in large-scale environments such as universities and conference rooms.
Additionally, Lightware’s recent Remote System Logging update allows Taurus devices to automatically forward system logs to an external, centralized server, giving administrators and IT departments simplified visibility into device activity and making it easier to troubleshoot. This solution is proving particularly useful for security-sensitive sectors such as banks, government and defence.
One institution embracing the Taurus Smart Dock is the Eindhoven University of Technology. The Dutch university is in the process of installing Lightware’s Taurus UCX-4x3-HC40 and Taurus Smart Dock across its 25-building campus as part of a six-year AV upgrade project. Once complete, over 600 meeting rooms and 150 classrooms will be powered by Lightware’s AV infrastructure to support modern learning whilst remaining future proof. Lecturers can walk into the room, plug in their laptop and begin lessons in no time.
Since its release earlier this year, the Taurus Smart Dock has already won a host of awards including InfoComm 2025 Commercial Integrator’s BEST Award, alongside AV Technology’s Best Collaboration Technology accolade. It is also shortlisted in the ‘Control Room & Security’ category for the upcoming German AVard awards.
