Lightware expands LARA capabilities with new GUDE driver
GUDE devices can now be incorporated into the LARA environment, allowing AV devices and intelligent power distribution to be managed together through unified automation workflows.
We are expanding our LARA (Lightware Advanced Room Automation) platform with the GUDE Power Distribution Units (PDU) driver module. GUDE devices can now be incorporated into the LARA environment, allowing AV devices and intelligent power distribution to be managed together through unified automation workflows. For system integrators, this means simplified deployment, operation and maintenance.
“Modern AV systems increasingly bring together technologies from multiple manufacturers, so interoperability and centralized control are becoming essential. Our integration with GUDE extends the capabilities of LARA, allowing integrators to bring device control, room automation and GUDE power management together within LARA. The result is greater visibility, simpler system operation and a more streamlined experience for both integrators and end users.”
- explains Gergely Vida, CEO of Lightware.

The integration gives users greater control over connected equipment by bringing GUDE power management into LARA’s AV automation workflows. LARA can control GUDE PDU outlets directly, enabling integrators to automate startup and shutdown sequences, power-cycle individual devices and monitor power consumption. This allows intelligent power distribution to be managed alongside AV devices within LARA. Change events can also be logged, providing greater visibility into system operation.
“The integration of our smart PDUs into Lightware’s LARA delivers real added value for our customers: they gain a centralized solution for monitoring and controlling their AV setups – resulting in faster AV service, less downtime and increased energy efficiency."
- adds Philipp Gude, CSO of GUDE Systems.

By bringing power control into the same environment as AV control, the GUDE integration can help simplify day-to-day system operation and reduce maintenance efforts. Power cycling can be performed over the local network, reducing the need for in-room intervention when connected devices require a restart. Automating repetitive power-related tasks can also improve operational efficiency and ensure systems follow consistent startup and shutdown procedures.

As AV systems become increasingly complex, managing different elements from a central point can simplify both deployment and ongoing operation. The GUDE integration extends LARA’s capabilities across corporate, education and meeting environments, as well as larger distributed AV systems and other networked installations where multiple devices need to be monitored and managed. The GUDE LARA Driver is available to download now from the Lightware website.
