Lightware Launches New USB-C Cables Tailored for Modern AV Installations
Lightware has unveiled two new active optical USB-C cables: CAB-USBC-AOC800E (8 meters) and CAB-USBC-AOC1000E (9.8 meters), tailored for professional AV environments such as meeting rooms and presenter’s desks.
Supporting USB 3.2 Gen 1x1 with data transfer speeds up to 5Gbps, 2-lane HBR3 DisplayPort Alternate Mode and 60W charging, these cables are designed to handle both high-speed data and power delivery over longer distances.

Both models feature a screw lock USB-C connector, providing a firm and reliable connection to the Lightware Taurus UCX. This secure locking mechanism helps prevent accidental disconnections during use, which is an important consideration in active AV spaces.
A standout feature of these cables is their 1-tier USB topology design. Veteran AV professionals know that USB tier depth matters. Many active optical cables on the market introduce two tiers into the USB topology, quickly eating into the 7-tier limit defined by the USB 2.0 specification. Hit that cap, and you'll see enumeration errors or dropped devices. Unlike many AOC cables, Lightware’s solution adds just one tier, preserving valuable topology depth. This is particularly important when integrating USB hubs, docking stations, or conference cameras, where exceeding the 7-tier USB 2.0 limit can cause instability or enumeration failures.
For AV professionals building reliable USB infrastructures, especially those involving legacy support or multiple devices, these cables offer the right balance of length, performance, and technical foresight.
