Details
Exploit the Possibilities of USB connectivity
The device utilizes USB-C connectivity for a simplified transmission of 4K video, audio, control signals and power, and allows data speeds of up to 5 Gbps under the USB 3.1 Gen1 and allowing video resolution capabilities up to 5K (5120×2160) via HDMI 2.0 at 30Hz 4:4:4 or 60Hz 4:2:0, as well as 4K@60Hz at 4:4:4. Users who connect their laptop or other mobile device via USB-C can also enjoy charging up to 100W (120W total), thus eliminating the need to look for a wall plug and to avoid sudden interruption of meetings.
Devices such as laptops that do not come with USB-C connectivity can also be connected quickly and easily, using a combination of HDMI 2.0 and USB 3.1 Gen1 connections without compromising on either video resolution or data speeds.
The device is designed to be a centerpiece of any collaboration space, and can be connected four USB peripherals via 2x USB-A type and 2 USB-C connectors.
The device allows up to two hosts to be connected to the system, and also ensures quick and easy switching between these hosts, making this universal switcher a perfect fit for smaller meeting areas, involving 6-12 people.
DSC Support — High-Performance Video & USB3, Finally Together
In its class of professional BYOD USB-C matrix switchers, the HC60 series uniquely combines DSC over DP Alt Mode, full-bandwidth USB 3, host switching, and integrated Ethernet. DSC (Display Stream Compression) enables 4K60 4:4:4 video on just two DP lanes, leaving the remaining lanes available for super-speed USB 3, so a single USB-C cable can deliver premium video and professional-grade USB peripherals simultaneously.
This is a major advantage, ensuring smooth operation of USB3 cameras, audio devices, and touch displays while maintaining perfect 4K60 image quality. It also provides a more reliable BYOD experience in modern hybrid meeting rooms, even when laptops have limited DP bandwidth, and improves stability with long or lower-quality USB-C cables by reducing video bandwidth load.
macOS supports DSC at the hardware level, though the OS may still restrict certain high-resolution or HDR modes, and DSC behavior can vary across versions. To work properly, the laptop must support DSC and the connection must use DP Alt Mode.
Supporting 5K
Taurus devices deliver flawless switching for 5K 21:9 ultrawide displays, unlocking a new level of visual performance for modern meeting and control environments. Designed to enhance layouts like Microsoft Teams Front Row and other collaboration platforms, Taurus provides expanded screen real estate for design, data visualization, and multi-window workflows. With uncompressed HDMI 2.0 video and ultra-low latency, it’s the ideal choice for simulation, engineering, broadcast, and executive boardroom applications.
Additional Features and Capabilities
The switcher also thrives when it comes to audio capabilities, offering analog audio de-embedding features as well as support for DANTE/AES67 network connection. The UCX-4x3-HC60-BD universal matrix switcher with Dante USB Audio Bridge feature facilitates two-way Dante functions, enabling its use in meeting rooms equipped with a Dante microphone or other sources, all without the need for an external DSP or Dante/USB dongle.
Automated room control features are also included through GPIO ports, besides of RS-232 and occupancy sensor connectivity.
Security is always a key concern to our customers, therefore our engineers ensured that the UCX-4x3-HC60-BD adheres to the strictest security standards.
Secure corporate Ethernet interfaces ensure secure device control and configuration under the SSH, SSL and HTTPS standards, whilst the device can also be securely connected to a closed network of room control devices such as wall panels, or routed to the corporate system for additional control options, all via separate Ethernet layers.
The Taurus UCX offers noiseless operation, no fan in the device.
In today’s collaboration environments, it is key that the technology offers flexible and versatile ways for participants to unlock the full potential of a collaboration space and to not be limited by the default options offered by their meeting rooms.
The Taurus UCX product family is Lightware’s ground-breaking innovation offered for the increasingly growing demand for cutting-edge solutions in the world of Unified Communications.
Also available with NIST FIPS 140-2 certified cryptography (SKU: 91360030)
Remote System Logging (Syslog)
Taurus devices now support remote system logging via industry-standard Syslog protocols (RFC3164 and RFC5424). This allows seamless integration with external SIEM and log monitoring systems.
- Forward logs via TCP, UDP, TLS
- Choose between human-readable and structured formats
- Easy configuration via LW3 protocol
- Local journald logging remains unaffected
Password Protection on Taurus UCX-HC60 Devices
Lightware’s new Taurus UCX-HC60 devices, as well as the DCX-3x1-HC21, are password-protected and come with a unique, factory-generated password.
This improvement ensures that the HC60 devices are ‘secure by design’ and better align with the requirements of various cybersecurity regulations, including the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
Read our guide for important information about how the new unique password protection works, where to find the devices’ login credentials and what to do if you encounter any password-related issues.
