The Taurus UCX Line Evolves: Meet the New HC60
The HC60 series enhances the UCX-HC40 platform with dual USB-C ports, 5K video support, 1 Gbps Ethernet, DSC for high-quality 4K over USB-C, and unique factory-set passwords meeting modern IT and EU CRA security standards.
- The new HC60 series replaces the HC40 line at the same price, offering a modernized hardware platform.
- Upgraded networking (1 Gbps), USB-C ports, improved signal reliability, and support for up to 5K resolution.
- Factory-level enhancements: HTTPS with unique credentials, simplified HDCP behavior, LARA enabled, and auto-follow features by default.
- Fully compatible with the existing lineup: no redesign or specification changes needed.
A Hardware Upgrade Built for Long-Term Reliability
The HC60’s performance and features remain identical to HC40, the internal hardware has been updated with next-generation components for higher stability and network performance.
- Faster network backbone: upgraded from 10/100 Mbps to full 1 Gbps Ethernet
- Modern connectivity: The 4 Port USB-A hub has been upgraded to 2:2 Format with two USB-C & two USB-A ports
- Enhanced signal processing: updated hardware for improved reliability
- 5K resolution available
Refined by Default
Every HC60 unit ships with factory-level improvements that simplify integration and enhance everyday use:
- HTTPS security with unique device-specific credentials (QR code included)
- Simplified HDCP and signal behaviour for easier setup and source switching
- LARA enabled, USB/audio auto-follow, and optimized BYOD source out of the box
- Built-in random default password: ensuring it is factory encrypted by default
- DSC Support: Enables visually lossless high-resolution video (including 4K@60Hz) over USB-C 2-lane DP Alt Mode while preserving bandwidth for USB 3.x data. Delivers higher video performance without extra cabling.
DSC Support — High-Performance Video & USB3, Finally Together
In its class of professional BYOD USB-C matrix switchers, the HC60 series uniquely combines DSC over DP Alt Mode, full-bandwidth USB 3, host switching, and integrated Ethernet. DSC (Display Stream Compression) enables 4K60 4:4:4 video on just two DP lanes, leaving the remaining lanes available for super-speed USB 3, so a single USB-C cable can deliver premium video and professional-grade USB peripherals simultaneously.
This is a major advantage, ensuring smooth operation of USB3 cameras, audio devices, and touch displays while maintaining perfect 4K60 image quality. It also provides a more reliable BYOD experience in modern hybrid meeting rooms, even when laptops have limited DP bandwidth, and improves stability with long or lower-quality USB-C cables by reducing video bandwidth load.
macOS supports DSC at the hardware level, though the OS may still restrict certain high-resolution or HDR modes, and DSC behavior can vary across versions. To work properly, the laptop must support DSC and the connection must use DP Alt Mode.
Full Compatibility, Zero Redesign
All existing UCX-HC40 and DCX models transition directly to their HC60 counterparts: no system redesigns, no specification changes, and no need to modify tender documentation or architectural drawings. The only exception is the DCX-2x1-HC10, which will be replaced by the DCX-3x1-HC21.

Please note that the Dual Screen Taurus HCM40 will continue to be available and is not being phased out.

New Password Policy for HC60
All HC60 units, including the DCX-3x1-HC21, now come with a unique, factory-generated password printed on the device label. This replaces the previous default password used on HC40 models.
Key Points:
- Each HC60 device is shipped with its own unique, factory-generated password.
- Going forward, the factory-generated password will be printed directly on the top of the device enclosure, similar to the method commonly used on internet routers.
- All HC60 units manufactured after November 18 will include this new printed label.
- Units produced before this date will continue to include the separate password sticker.
- Performing a factory reset restores the same factory-generated password—the password is not removed or cleared.
- This approach improves device security and aligns with modern IT compliance expectations.
This change also aligns with the requirements of the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), which mandates that network-connected products be “secure by default.” Among other expectations, the CRA prohibits universal default passwords and requires manufacturers to implement strong, device-specific credentials to reduce cybersecurity risks.
